Laminating pouches provide a protective covering that seals paper articles between two layers of plastic. This affords an all-round protective surface that is both flexible and sturdy. Laminating pouches can thus be employed for a wide range of uses, everything from to protecting documents to creating ID cards.
There is a variety to choose from, which can be brought directly from our website. All laminating pouches that we stock are high quality and excellent value for money. They are just what you need for protecting your professional documentation, for creating signs and notices, or for protecting treasured personal pictures, postcards or letters. They are perfect for both office and home use.
Laminating paper based articles, such as documents or photographs, can protect them from getting damaged over time. Paper can be a flimsy and easily damaged material, and laminating pouches can help prevent this. Zentesi’s laminating pouches range can keep your articles from getting creased or wrinkled, grazed, stained or smeared, or marked by grease or fingerprints; These kinds of damage are likely to occur if the documents pass through many hands during use. It can also protect them from water damage, or fading over time as a result of exposure to the air. This is an important consideration if you wish to maintain articles in pristine condition for a long period of time, for example with important professional documents, or intrinsically valuable items and mementos.
Laminating pouches are made out of a combination of two types of plastic, utilising the properties of both:
The outer layer is PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate), which is a type of polyester resin that can be formed into various shapes. PET can be made into flat sheets, which makes it ideal for laminating pouches. It provides the stiff, rigid and protective outer layer of the laminating pouches.
The inner layer is EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate), a resilient, soft, and stress resistant plastic that is often used as a hot-melt adhesive. These properties make it ideal for the inside surface of laminating pouches.
Hot - or Thermal - laminating pouches that use a laminating machine are the norm. The laminating pouches are fed into the machine with the paper article between the sheets, and then the sheets are heated up, which binds the edges of the two sides of the pouch together. The hot laminating pouches save time and effort (and money), and are an excellent option when you have multiple items to laminate.
If you do not have a laminating machine then cold laminating/self-seal laminating pouches are an option. These are simple to use; you place the document into the pouch that you want to laminate, peel away the backing sheet, and stick the two halves together.
The most commonly bought type of finish for laminate pouches, is gloss. This finish gives the laminated item a shiny surface, which can garner attention for signs and notices, can keep costs down, and is suitable for most general laminating applications. The gloss finish laminate pouches give an overall clean and professional appearance that is simple to wipe clean and dust, and can provide photograph enhancement.
When using your laminated item in bright sunlight or artificial light, matt is preferable. It costs a little more but the finish will be appropriate if you want people to be able to easily read signs and notices in this level of light. It is also advised that you use matt finish laminate pouches when you laminate a document that you wish to write on with non-permanent ink and then wipe clear, as a less reflective surface will make reading easier.
All our laminating pouches come in one of two thicknesses, measured in microns, 150 microns and 250 microns. 150 micron laminating pouches are the thinner option. 250 micron laminate pouches are the thicker variety, offering even greater protection, for little extra cost.
Microns are just a unit of measure, where 1 micron is equal to 0.001 millimetre, so 250 microns is equal to 0.25 millimetres, giving you an indication of a laminating pouches’ thickness.
We offer three sizes of laminating pouches, A3, A4 and A5. The packs we stock come in a range of sizes, ranging from the smallest pack of 20 laminate pouches, to the largest pack of 200 laminate pouches. However we can also offer discounts on bulk purchase.
